Terms of Service
Effective: September 8, 2026
1. Who we are
Connectance (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is the company behind the Granite platform. Our website is located at www.connectance.ch. You can contact us at hello@connectance.ch.
2. The Granite Platform
Granite is a humanitarian data platform that provides:
- A mobile application for individuals to register, manage their profile, access services, and control their data sharing preferences.
- A web-based SaaS product for humanitarian organisations, NGOs, and governments to register beneficiaries, manage referrals, and coordinate service delivery.
- An analytics and intelligence layer (Connectance+) that synthesises publicly available humanitarian datasets.
- An interoperability gateway connecting Granite to third-party information management systems.
Collectively, these are referred to as the “Services”. This website itself is informational; sections 3, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 apply to it, the remainder apply to the Services.
3. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using any of the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Services on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Services.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Services. In jurisdictions where the legal age is higher, the applicable local age limit applies. Individuals under this age may only use the Services through an authorised guardian or registered household member.
Access to organisational features of Granite requires a valid organisational account, which may be subject to a separate agreement between your organisation and Connectance.
5. Your Account and Personal ID
When you register as an individual beneficiary, Granite assigns you a Personal ID — a permanent, portable identifier in the format OEG-{COUNTRY}-{YEAR}-{8CHAR}. Your Personal ID is yours for life and follows you across organisations and borders.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You must provide accurate and truthful information at registration.
- You must promptly update your account if your circumstances change materially.
- You must not share your account with others or allow third parties to access it on your behalf without your explicit consent.
If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@connectance.ch.
6. Consent and Data Sharing
Granite is built on a consent-first model. You control which organisations can access which fields of your profile. In particular:
- No organisation can access your personally identifiable data without your active, granular consent.
- You can review, modify, or withdraw consent at any time from within the Granite app.
- Withdrawal of consent does not erase historical records held by organisations that previously had authorised access; it prevents future access only.
- Certain aggregate and anonymised data may be used by Connectance for platform analytics and service improvement, as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Emergency Contacts
The Granite app allows you to register one or more emergency contacts — individuals you designate to be reached in the event of an emergency affecting you.
By adding an emergency contact, you explicitly authorise Connectance and partner organisations operating on the Granite platform to contact that individual if we receive credible information suggesting an emergency involving your safety, wellbeing, or whereabouts.
Emergency contact information is stored securely, is not shared with organisations for general service delivery purposes, and is only used for the emergency communication purpose described above. See our Privacy Policy for details on how this data is handled.
You are responsible for obtaining the consent of any person you register as an emergency contact before doing so. By adding a contact, you represent that this consent has been given.
8. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use this website or the Services to:
- Register false or fraudulent identities, or impersonate another person or organisation.
- Access, collect, or use data about other individuals without their consent.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or the servers and networks connected to the Services.
- Use automated scripts to access the Services in a manner that exceeds reasonable personal or organisational use.
- Use the Services for any purpose that violates applicable law or humanitarian principles.
- Commercially exploit data extracted from the Services without Connectance’s written permission.
9. Intellectual Property
The Services and this website, including all software, design, trademarks, the Connectance name and mark, and content provided by Connectance, remain the exclusive property of Connectance. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Services for their intended purpose.
You retain ownership of the personal data you provide to the Services. Connectance’s rights to that data are limited to those described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Availability and Modifications
We aim to provide the Services continuously but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, with or without notice.
We will endeavour to provide reasonable advance notice of significant changes that materially affect your rights or the handling of your data.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Connectance and its founders, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Connectance’s total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Services shall not exceed the greater of (i) the amount you paid Connectance in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (ii) CHF 100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Connectance’s liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Connectance is incorporated. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws require otherwise.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Services after that period constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
The current effective date of these Terms is noted at the top of this page.
